Give a Gift of Securities

Your investments can help move epilepsy research forward.

Donating publicly traded securities, such as stocks, bonds or mutual fund units, is a way to support Epilepsy Canada. By transferring them directly to us, you can help fund research into better treatments and new options for people living with epilepsy

When you donate eligible securities directly to a registered charity, the capital gain on the gift may have a zero inclusion rate for income tax purposes. You may also receive a charitable tax receipt based on the fair market value of the securities when Epilepsy Canada receives them. The tax treatment can differ if you sell the securities first and donate the proceeds.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Email epilepsy@epilepsy.ca and we’ll provide the information you and your broker need to arrange a direct transfer.

  2. Ask your financial advisor or broker to arrange the transfer directly to Epilepsy Canada.

  3. Let us know the transfer is on its way so we can identify your gift and send your tax receipt once it has been received and processed.
