Celebrating 60 Years
Epilepsy Canada Marks 60 Years with a Renewed Look and a Bold Vision for the Future
National organization launches anniversary year focused on research, community, and collective action.
In 2026, Epilepsy Canada marks an important milestone: 60 years of advancing epilepsy research and standing alongside people and families affected by epilepsy across the country.
To launch this anniversary year, Epilepsy Canada is unveiling a refreshed brand identity that reflects both its legacy and its focus on the future. The updated look honours six decades of dedication to epilepsy research while embracing the energy, innovation, and collaboration that will shape the years ahead.
At the centre of the refreshed identity is a new logo featuring a geometric maple leaf. The symbol represents Canada, connection, and community. Its network of points and lines reflects the intricate pathways of the human brain, and the vital links between people living with epilepsy, researchers, donors, and advocates working toward shared progress.
“This refresh is more than a new look,” said Johanna McDougall, Chief Executive Officer of Epilepsy Canada. “It represents where we’re headed. As we enter our 60th year, we’re focused on strengthening research, growing our community, and creating new opportunities to make a lasting impact.”
Rather than looking back, Epilepsy Canada is using its anniversary year to look ahead and invite Canadians to be part of what comes next. Throughout 2026, the organization is focused on inspiring collective action through four meaningful goals:
Welcoming 60 new monthly donors
Encouraging 60 legacy gifts
Supporting 60 community-led events across the country
Engaging 60 researchers to apply for epilepsy research funding
“Sixty years is both a moment to reflect and a moment to act,” said Jane Todd, Chair of the Board of Directors. “This anniversary is about bringing people together and inviting our community to help shape the future of epilepsy research in Canada, including those who choose to support that future through sustained, monthly contributions.”
These goals reflect Epilepsy Canada’s belief that progress happens when people come together. Every donation, every research application, and every community effort plays a role in building a stronger future for epilepsy research in Canada.
As the organization looks ahead, more details about Epilepsy Canada’s 60th anniversary initiatives will be shared throughout the year.
