Our Daughter Tianna, was around 6 years old when she began exhibiting Petit Mal symptoms.
We began to think that something was not right when we noticed that sometimes, we would call her or speak to her and there was a noticeable delay in her response.
In time she was diagnosed with Petit Mal. She would have repeated stares or pauses throughout the day.
The Specialist informed us that she had an 80% chance of growing out of the seizures when she entered Puberty. All through her later childhood she managed well without any medication. However when she turned 13 things changed. Early last year she had her first Grand Mal seizure while she was alone in her bed. On another occasion a few months later she experienced another Grand Mal seizure while visiting family in Montreal. Two months later she had another seizure. She has had 5 seizures in total to date and is currently using medication which is helping somewhat.
We don’t know of any family history of this condition and no one else in our family experiences this. Tianna is a beautiful funloving and vibrant girl and my only daughter. I wish for nothing more than an improved way to manage her condition or even better an outright cure to this condition not just for my precious daughter but for all the millions of people who suffer from this day to day.
