Dilantin Announcement

1/8/2018

Please be aware that as of the Fall of 2017 a generic version of Pfizer’s anticonvulsant DILANTIN (100 mg Extended Phenytoin Sodium Capsules) entered the Canadian market.  Pfizer Canada’s original brand name DILANTIN continues to be available as an option to physicians and patients.

It is important for patients to be informed, and thus empowered, to make proper medication choices for themselves and their family.  Patients should actively discuss treatment options with their pharmacist and physician to ensure they have access to the medication that best meets their needs.

DILANTIN Capsules are indicated for the control of generalized tonic-clonic and psychomotor (grand mal and temporal lobe) seizures and prevention and treatment of seizures occurring during or following neurosurgery.
